PETALING JAYA, May 20 – Diabetes Malaysia Selangor Branch is organising an art exhibition – PASSION – this May 21-22 (Saturday and Sunday) featuring the works of two sisters, Mimi Lee-Pat and Kien Shan Lee and also that of their late grandfather Lee Kah Yeow.
Artist Lee Kah Yeow was a renowned Malaysian artist and calligrapher. In 1922, he graduated from the then Shanghai Fine Arts School (Nanjing University of the Arts today). In 1926, he moved to Malaysia and worked both as an educator and an art teacher. He is said to have held a strong principle of donating his artworks exclusively for the benefit of the society.
The exhibition launch, to be officiated by Tengku Puteri Nor Zehan bt Almarhum Sultan Salahudin Abdul Aziz Shah Al Haj at the Galerie Du Monde in Jalan Gasing here, will be in aid of the Diabetes Malaysia Selangor Branch, a non-governmental diabetic resource centre in Klang, said the centre’s Chairman, Datin Paduka Dr. Shanta Kumari.
Proceeds from the sales of the artworks will go contribute towards the many programmes the Diabetes Malaysia Selangor Branch hopes to carry out this year towards better understanding of diabetes and the various practical assistance programmes that it offers to diabetic patients coming into the centre, she said in a press statement issued earlier this week.
