KAM WOEI YANN

Born 1969 in Penang, Kam Woei Yann graduated from Malaysia Institute of Arts with a diploma in Graphic Design. Inspired by her abiding interest in art,s he resigned from her job as an art director in the advertising field to be come a full time artist. Being the descendant of the Straits Chinese in Penang, nyonya wares and related subjects of the straits heritage have always been her favourite themes for her paintings. Woei Yann was fascinated by her grandmother’s costumes, jewellery, handicraft and her porcelain kitchen wares. It inspired her to paint the ‘Straits Chinese Procelain Series’, ‘A Valued Tradition Series’ and ‘Once Upon A Time Series’.
