Born in 1967 in Kuala Lumpur, Lee Weng Fatt’s works capture the rich and unique characteristics of old building and cultural heritage which are fast disappearing from our modern landscape. Lee Weng Fatt graduated with a Diploma in Art & Design at the Kuala Lumpur College of Art in 1989. He started painting in watercolours before switching to oil in 1995. His works focuses on ‘preserving’ local heritage buildings by re-capturing their timeless beauty and allure. What enthralls Weng Fatt are the old colonial era buildings and the old Peranakan houses in Malacca and Penang. He captures their timeless beauty in exquisite details. His first solo was held at the Art Salon, Kuala Lumpur, called “Hang Kai / Jalan-Jalan” in 1994 and other solo at venues in Kuala Lumpur like Joshua Fine Art Gallery (2000), the Art House (2004) and TJ Fine Art (2010).
