Vishaka, aged 22, born in November 1998 was diagnosed with autism at 20 months. He was quickly placed in several early intervention programmes. Although it did not yield the expected results, it did help. Due to his condition, he has had to endure many challenges, some of which mundane, others are more – well strange.
Despite the hardships and the supposed apathy that accompanies the typical autist, Vishaka retains some form of empathy. It is this empathy accompanied with his loving and apparent carefree demeanour that allows him to be loved and cherished by all who surround him.
He was introduced to Art in 2010 and quickly embraced it. Teacher Joy (the founder of Dragonfly Art Cottage) has been very supportive in his journey through the arts. We hope that in the years to come he will realise his potential and be able to live a life with some semblance of normalcy. A life where he is loved, accepted and respected as an individual with his own merits and faults
